CESA 1000 – ZEB Applied Building Science Fundamentals

The British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is offering a suite of courses tailored to busy construction professionals allowing you to enhance your toolbox with the knowledge and skills to build to the BC Energy Step Code. The new courses focus on hands on training and construction problem-solving ensuring your learning occurs by practicing activities in BCIT’s High Performance Building Lab.
Course Details
This course introduces the fundamental principles of building science including heat transfer, vapour diffusion, air flow, and moisture management. Hands-on exercises will be employed to better understand the effect of environmental loads on the building enclosure performance. Students will review the key properties of common construction materials and appropriate applications for said materials. Students will develop their knowledge of building science to support and inform strategies to meet the BC Energy Step Code.
This course has online and in-class components.
