What’s New? Changes to the 2018 BC Building Code are coming and will be effective December 12, 2019. Join BC Housing and team members from the Building and Safety Standards Branch to learn more. This workshop will cover new code requirements for:
- BC Energy Step Code
- Encapsulated mass timber construction
- Secondary suites
- Roof-top enclosures and occupancies
- Recycling rooms
- Carbon monoxide levels
Presenters
Don Pedde is a Senior Codes Administrator with the Building and Safety Standards Branch. Don has 33 years of experience in the building industry including work as a Journeyman Carpenter, as an Architectural Technician, and as a Chief Building Official. He is a Minister’s Appointee to the Executive Committee of the Building Officials’ Association of BC.
Jun’ichi Jensen is a Team Lead of Codes and Standards with the Province of BC’s Building and Safety Standards Branch. Jun’ichi has over 25 years of experience in the construction industry. Since 2008, he has worked on a several significant code change projects, including those relevant to daycare facilities, windows, and six-storey wood framed building.
