EA-focused residential heat loss and heat gain calculations course
November 3, 2021 @ 1:30 pm to 10:30 pm
Online learning opportunity offered by the Canadian Association of Consulting Energy Advisors (CACEA) and the Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Institute of Canada (HRAI).
Description
CACEA and HRAI have partnered to offer a unique learning opportunity for energy
advisors. HRAI instructor and CACEA Member, John Harris will adapt the four-day
HRAI course content so that it is relevant to the work of energy advisors. Energy advisors not only gain valuable professional development, but also an opportunity to expand the services they provide.
John will discuss the differences and similarities between F280-12 heat loss/gain calculations and provide specific examples by comparing HOT2000 inputs and outputs with values derived using HRAI procedures. Focusing on EAs and their work, John will discuss the differences and similarities between F280-12 heat loss/gain calculations and provide specific examples by comparing HOT2000 inputs and outputs with values derived using HRAI procedures.
Based on CSA Standard F280-12, participants get a firsthand introduction of the basic principles of building science and heat loss/gain. Through various in-class exercises, participants will learn how to determine the thermal resistance (R value) of various building assemblies, such as walls and ceilings. Accurately, calculate room by room heat loss and gain while considering the influences of occupancy, exposure, ventilation, air leakage across the building envelope and more.
Successful candidates will receive an HRAI Heat Loss/Heat Gain Calculation Certificate.
Dates and time
The course runs November 2 to 5 from 9:30 to 5:30 Eastern time or 6:30 to 3:30 Pacific time.
Cost and subsidies for B.C. residents
The course costs:
- $970 + tax for CACEA members
- $1,420 + tax for non-CACEA members
BC Hydro is providing registration subsidies for BC residents up to $485.
