ZEBx Decarb Lunch: Evolve Passive House
February 26, 2021 @ 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Free online webinar offered by ZEBx.
Taking place on the last Friday of every month, the ZEBx Decarb Lunch brings together industry silos to discuss emerging solutions and barriers related to zero emission buildings.
Description
Evolve will be a six-storey, wood-frame building with 110 rental units for UBC faculty and staff in the Wesbrook Place neighbourhood at UBC Vancouver. The project is projected to meet the Passive House Standard’s aggressive energy targets, and presents an outstanding opportunity for the project team, UBC researchers, and the construction community at large to analyze project performance and occupant satisfaction.
With construction commencing in 2020, this new project is still in the early stages. The building is targeting Passive House certification and thanks to a grant from Natural Resources Canada, researchers at UBC will collect and analyse data from Evolve and a comparable project in Wesbrook Place to help inform UBC’s long-term goals to reduce energy requirements for buildings.
Join ZEBx at this event to learn from ZGF Architects’ key project team members about the innovative design process and strategies that have been pursued. Design strategies include rooftop photovoltaic panels, a central HRV system with a VRF coil at the system level providing tempered heating and cooling, operable windows, an exceptional thermal envelope, optimized operable shading, and high-performance glazing. The presentation will be followed by an expert panel discussion with the speakers.
