Prefabrication for High-Performance Buildings
October 20, 2020 @ 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
A free webinar sponsored by ZEBx. This workshop is part of ZEBx’s Net-Zero Energy-Ready (NZER) Challenge Series.
On October 20, a panel of presenters will highlight three of the 11 NZER Challenge winning projects, all of which include modular or panelized prefabricated building components into their high-performance design. To top it off, there will also be a high-level overview of the off-site construction industry in BC and shed some light on what the future holds for this burgeoning industry.
Prefabrication and modularization encompass factory-produced structural elements, volumetric units, and specialized “pods”. Although prefabrication and modular building are not new concepts, manufacturing processes continue to evolve – accommodating increased levels of automation and other innovations. Prefabricated elements are becoming increasingly common throughout the building industry. They promise high-quality products delivered on accelerated schedules, with predictable costs, and can assist in achieving high performance building and waste diversion goals.
This event is free thanks to funding from the BC Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources, BC Hydro and the City of Vancouver.
